When working with embedded devices, there are times when you may need to perform a reboot (Reset) or a factory reset</strong) to restore the default settings. The TW101DB supports both functions, and they can be performed in two different ways:
- Using the hardware pin (HW pin)
- Using the Config Tool
Let’s go through each method step by step.
1. Using the Hardware Pin
On the bottom side of the TW101DB board, you’ll find the SW Input button. This button allows you to perform a hardware Reset or Factory Reset.
Reset
- Press and hold the SW Input button for more than 100 ms, then release it.
- The board will automatically reboot.
Factory Reset
- Press and hold the SW Input button for more than 5 seconds. This enables the Factory Reset mode.
- Once you release the button, the board will reset itself and restore the default factory values
2. Using the Config Tool
The TW101DB can also be reset or factory reset through Ethernet communication from a PC located on the same subnet. This feature is supported by the Config Tool provided by twareLAB.
Reset
- Launch the Config Tool.
- Select the target board from the list on the left.
- Click the Reset button.
If the board successfully receives the command, a confirmation message box will appear.

Factory Reset
- Launch the Config Tool.
- Select the target board from the list on the left.
- Click the Factory Reset button.
When the command is properly received, a confirmation message will be displayed.

Wrapping Up
- Quick reboot only: Short press the SW Input button for Reset.
- Full initialization: Long press the SW Input button for Factory Reset.
- Easier management via network: Use the Config Tool.
In the next post, we’ll dive into advanced configuration techniques using the Config Tool.
